Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Kinds of Clothes in Which It Is Undesirable to Perform Salah (Prayer) As Well As Otherwise َدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ ٠َهْزِيَارَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ سَأَلَ الْ٠َاضِيَ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ فِي الثَّعَالِبِ فَنَهَى عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ فِيهَا وَفِي الثَّوْبِ الَّذِي يَلِيهَا فَلَ٠ْ أَدْرِ أَيُّ الثَّوْبَيْنِ الَّذِي يَلْصَقُ بِالْوَبَرِ أَوِ الَّذِي يَلْصَقُ بِالْجِلْدِ فَوَقَّعَ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) بِخَطِّهِ الَّذِي يَلْصَقُ بِالْجِلْدِ قَالَ وَذَكَرَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) أَنَّهُ سَأَلَهُ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْ٠َسْأَلَةِ فَقَالَ لاَ تُصَلِّ فِي الثَّوْبِ الَّذِي فَوْقَهُ وَلاَ فِي الَّذِي تَحْتَهُ.

He (the Imam) wrote with his handwriting that said, ‘It is the one that touches the skin. He (the narrator) has said that he then asked abu al-Hassan that he had asked him (the Imam) about this issue and he (the Imam) had said, ‘Do not perform Salah (prayer) with the clothes which are on its top as well as that which is beneath.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (5/311))
