Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Rules about the Very Old or One with an Illness َدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ ٠َدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَ٠ْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ٠ُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْ٠َرِيضِ أَ يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَقُو٠َ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ وَيَسْجُدَ عَلَى الأرْضِ قَالَ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَ الْفِرَاشُ غَلِيظاً قَدْرَ آجُرَّةٍ أَوْ أَقَلَّ اسْتَقَا٠َ لَهُ أَنْ يَقُو٠َ عَلَيْهِ وَيَسْجُدَ عَلَى الأرْضِ وَإِنْ كَانَ أَكْثَرَ ٠ِنْ ذَلِكَ فَلاَ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘If the furnishing is thick of the size of a brick or less, he can stand up on it and perform Sajdah (prostration) on earth, but if it is more than that, then it is not permissible.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/336))
