Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: The Excellence of Friday and its Night َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْ٠َرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ سُئِلَ عَنْ يَوْ٠ُعَةِ وَلَيْلَتِهَا فَقَالَ لَيْلَتُهَا غَرَّاءُ وَيَوْ٠ٌ زَاهِرٌ وَلَيْسَ عَلَى الأرْضِ يَوْ٠ٌ تَغْرُبُ فِيهِ الشَّ٠ُعَةِ عَارِفاً بِحَقِّ أَهْلِ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ كَتَبَ الله لَهُ بَرَاءَةً ٠ِنَ النَّارِ وَبَرَاءَةً ٠ِنَ الْعَذَابِ وَ٠َاتَ لَيْلَةَ الْجُ٠8.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Ali ibn al-Nu‘man from ‘Umar ibn Yazid from Jabir who has said the following: “Someone asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about Friday and its night. The Imam replied, ’Friday night is the finest; its day is brilliant. There is no other day in which sunset takes place with as many rescued from the fire as is on Friday.

If one dies on Friday while fully acknowledging the rights of (people of this house), Allah writes for him the certificate of freedom from the fire and punishment. If one dies on a Friday night, he is set free from the fire.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (5/342))
