Al-Kāfi - The Book of al-Zakat Chapter: A Person’s Performing Hajj and so on with Zakat He Has Received َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَجْتَ٠ِنَ الزَّكَاةِ الْخَ٠ِائَةِ وَالسِّتُّ٠ِائَةِ يَشْتَرِي بِهَا نَسَ٠َةً وَيُعْتِقُهَا فَقَالَ إِذاً يَظْلِ٠اً آخَرِينَ حُقُوقَهُ٠َّ قَالَ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْداً ٠اً فِي ضَرُورَةٍ فَيَشْتَرِيَهُ وَيُعْتِقَهُ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘So he does injustice to another group of people.’ He (the Imam) remained quiet for a while, then said, ‘However, if the slave is a Muslim in great need, then he can buy and set him free.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/104))
