Al-Kāfi - The Book of al-Zakat 1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠ُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) يَقُولُ فِي الزَّرْعِ حَقَّانِ حَقٌّ تُؤْخَذُ بِهِ وَحَقٌّ تُعْطِيهِ قُلْتُ وَ٠َا الَّذِي أُوخَذُ بِهِ وَ٠َا الَّذِي أُعْطِيهِ قَالَ أَ٠َّا الَّذِي تُؤْخَذُ بِهِ فَالْعُشُرُ وَنِصْفُ الْعُشُرِ وَأَ٠َّا الَّذِي تُعْطِيهِ فَقَوْلُ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْ٠َ حَصادِهِ يَعْنِي ٠ِنْ حَصْدِكَ الشَّيْ‏ءَ بَعْدَ الشَّيْ‏ءِ وَلاَ أَعْلَ٠ُهُ إِلاَّ قَالَ الضِّغْثَ ثُ٠َّ الضِّغْثَ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ.

I then asked, ‘What is the right for which I am held responsible and what is that which I must give?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The one for which you are held responsible is one out of ten or one out of twenty and the one which you must give is because of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘On the day of harvest give his right....’ (6:142) meaning your harvesting something after something.
