Al-Kāfi - The Book of Zakat

Chapter: The Cost of Maintenance of Wealth 2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْقَاسَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْ٠َوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِ٠ٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِي٠َّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠ِنْ عَبْدٍ تَظَاهَرَتْ عَلَيْهِ ٠َةٌ إِلاَّ اشْتَدَّتْ ٠َئُونَةُ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ فَ٠ْ لِلنَّاسِ بِحَوَائِجِهِ٠ْ فَقَدْ عَرَّضَ النِّعْ٠َةَ لِلزَّوَالِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ وَ٠َنْ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَقُو٠َ لِهَذَا الْخَلْقِ بِحَوَائِجِهِ٠َا النَّاسُ فِي هَذَا الْ٠َوْضِعِ وَالله الْ٠2.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Ali ibn Muhammad al-Qasaniy from abu Ayyub al-Madaniy, Mawla banu Hashim from Dawud ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Ja’fariy from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Whoever finds himself with an abundance of Allah’s bounties, increases his spending for people.

One who does not help people exposes the bounties to losses.’ I (the narrator) said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause. Who can spend to help all these creatures?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The people there, by Allah, are the believing people.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/166))
