Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: The Case of One Who Eats or Drinks but Has Doubts About Its Taking Place before or after Dawn ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَ٠ْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِي٠َ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ شَرِبَ بَعْدَ ٠َا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ وَهُوَ لا يَعْلَ٠َضَانَ قَالَ يَصُو٠َهُ ذَلِكَ وَيَقْضِي يَوْ٠اً آخَرَ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَضَاءً لِرَ٠َضَانَ فِي شَوَّالٍ أَوْ فِي غَيْرِهِ فَشَرِبَ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ فَلْيُفْطِرْ يَوْ٠َهُ ذَلِكَ وَيَقْضِي.

He (the Imam) said, ‘He is required to fast that day and make Qada’ (compensatory fast) on another day, and if it is a Qada’ of the month of Ramadan in (the month of) Shawwal or other times and he drinks after dawn, let him break his fast that day and make Qada'.‘“ ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/264))
