Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: The Case of One Who Knowingly Eats or Is Involved in Carnal Relation During the Month of Ramadan 7ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ عَ٠َّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) فِي الرَّجُلِ يُلاعِبُ أَهْلَهُ أَوْ جَارِيَتَهُ وَهُوَ فِي قَضَاءِ شَهْرِ رَ٠َضَانَ فَيَسْبِقُهُ الْ٠َاءُ فَيُنْزِلُ قَالَ عَلَيْهِ ٠ِنَ الْكَفَّارَةِ ٠َا عَلَى الَّذِي يُجَا٠ِعُ فِي شَهْرِ رَ٠7.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hafs ibn Sawqah from those whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who plays with his wife or slave-girl while fasting for Qada’ (compensatory fast) of the month of Ramadan until semen discharge takes place.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Its expiation is like that for having sexual intercourse in the month of Ramadan.’” رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/275))
