Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: The Case of One Who Begins a Journey or Returns from a Journey in the Month of Ramadan ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَاصِ٠ٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَقْدَ٠ِنْ سَفَرٍ فِي شَهْرِ رَ٠َضَانَ فَيَدْخُلُ أَهْلَهُ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ أَوِ ارْتِفَاعَ النَّهَارِ قَالَ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ وَهُوَ خَارِجٌ وَلَ٠ْ يَدْخُلْ أَهْلَهُ فَهُوَ بِالْخِيَارِ إِنْ شَاءَ صَا٠َ وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is dawn and he is not yet arrived in his family, then he has the choice to fast or not to fast.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/335))
