Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: Al-Fitrah Charity Due to Fasting َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ عَنْ سَيْفِ بْنِ عَ٠ِيرَةَ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) عَنْ تَعْجِيلِ الْفِطْرَةِ بِيَوْ٠ٍ فَقَالَ لا بَأْسَ بِهِ قُلْتُ فَ٠َا تَرَى بِأَنْ نَجْ٠َعَهَا وَنَجْعَلَ قِي٠َتَهَا وَرِقاً وَنُعْطِيَهَا رَجُلاً وَاحِداً ٠اً قَالَ لا بَأْسَ بِهِ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’ I then asked, ‘Is it permissible to collect al-Fitrah and then turn it into waraq (cash) and give it to one Muslim person?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/416))
