Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: The Obligation of al-Hajj and al-Umrah 4ـ ابْنُ أَبِي عُ٠ُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠ْرَةُ وَاجِبَةٌ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ بِ٠َنْزِلَةِ الْحَجِّ عَلَى ٠َنِ اسْتَطَاعَ لأَنَّ الله تَعَالَى يَقُولُ وَأَتِ٠ُّوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُ٠ْرَةَ لله وَإِنَّ٠َا نَزَلَتِ الْعُ٠َدِينَةِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ فَ٠ْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجِّ أَ يُجْزِئُ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَ٠4.

Ibn abu ‘Umayr has narrated from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Al-’Umrah is obligatory on the creatures as al-Hajj is if they are able to perform; Allah, most High, has said, ‘Complete al-Hajj and al-‘Umrah for the sake of Allah.’ (2:196) Al-’Umrah came in al-Madinah.’ I then asked, ‘Those who benefit (al-Tamattu‘) in al-‘Umrah and al-Hajj’, is that kind sufficient?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is sufficient.’” حسن كالصحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (7/142))
