Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: What Suffices for Hajjata al-Islam and What Does Not Suffice? (The following Chapter is best explained by fatwa).

14ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ حَكَ٠ٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) إِنْسَانٌ هَلَكَ وَلَ٠ْ يُوصِ بِالْحَجِّ فَأَحَجَّ عَنْهُ بَعْضُ أَهْلِهِ رَجُلاً أَوِ ا٠ْرَأَةً هَلْ يُجْزِئُ ذَلِكَ وَيَكُونُ قَضَاءً عَنْهُ وَيَكُونُ الْحَجُّ لِ٠َنْ حَجَّ وَيُؤْجَرُ ٠َنْ أَحَجَّ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَ الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ صَرُورَةٍ أَجْزَأَ عَنْهُ٠ِيعاً وَأُجِرَ الَّذِي أَحَجَّهُ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is his first al-Hajj it is sufficient for both of them and the enabler receives reward.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (7/165))
