Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Hadid from Jamil ibn Darraj from Zurarah who has said the following: âI once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Jaâfar or abu âAbd Allah) (a.s.), about throwing pebbles on the day of al-Nahr (slaughtering the offering) and about why it is only one and why other al-Jamar are not pelted with pebbles on the day of al-Nahr.
He (the Imam) said, âThey used to throw pebbles on them but they stopped it.â I then said, âI pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, can I then throw pebbles on them all?â He (the Imam) said, âYou must not throw pebbles on them all. Do you not like to do what we do?ââ ضعÙÙ - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (18/144))
