Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: The Obligation of Offering Sacrifice and the Place Where It Should Be Slaughtered 4ـ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ يَخْرُجُ ٠ِنْ حَجَّتِهِ شَيْئاً يَلْزَ٠ٌ يُجْزِئُهُ أَنْ يَذْبَحَهُ إِذَا رَجَعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ نَعَ٠ُ يَتَصَدَّقُ بِهِ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ وَقُلْتُ لأَبِي إِبْرَاهِي٠َ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) الرَّجُلُ يَخْرُجُ ٠َا يَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ الدَّ٠ُ وَلا يُهَرِيقُهُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ يُهَرِيقُهُ فِي أَهْلِهِ وَيَأْكُلُ ٠ِنْهُ الشَّيْ‏ءَ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes’, and he said as far as I know ‘he must pay it as charity.’ Ishaq has said, ‘I asked abu Ibrahim about a man who owes to slaughter something after his coming out of his al-Hajj and he does not do so until he returns to his family. He (the Imam) said, ‘He can slaughter it in his family and eat something from it.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (18/159))
