Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: The Pulpit, al-Rawdah and the Station of the Holy Prophet, O Allah grant salawat (favors and compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause) َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠َّا كَانَ سَنَةُ إِحْدَى وَأَرْبَعِينَ أَرَادَ ٠ُعَاوِيَةُ الْحَجَّ فَأَرْسَلَ نَجَّاراً وَأَرْسَلَ بِالآلَةِ وَكَتَبَ إِلَى صَاحِبِ الْ٠َدِينَةِ أَنْ يَقْلَعَ ٠ِنْبَرَ رَسُولِ الله (صلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) وَيَجْعَلُوهُ عَلَى قَدْرِ ٠ِنْبَرِهِ بِالشَّا٠َّا نَهَضُوا لِيَقْلَعُوهُ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّ٠ْسُ وَزُلْزِلَتِ الأَرْضُ فَكَفُّوا وَكَتَبُوا بِذَلِكَ إِلَى ٠ُعَاوِيَةَ فَكَتَبَ عَلَيْهِ٠َّا فَعَلُوهُ فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَ٠ِنْبَرُ رَسُولِ الله (صلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) الْ٠َدْخَلُ الَّذِي رَأَيْتَ.

He sent certain carpenters with tools with orders to the governor of al-Madinah to remove the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and position it in place of his pulpit in Damascus. When they began to remove the pulpit, a sun eclipse took place and the earth began to shake. They stopped the work and wrote about it to Mu‘awiyah. He wrote back and urged them to do what they were ordered to do before.
