Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) Chapter: Virtue and Excellence of Serving in the Army ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) إِنَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ أَخْبَرَنِي بِأَ٠ْرٍ قَرَّتْ بِهِ عَيْنِي وَفَرِحَ بِهِ قَلْبِي قَالَ يَا ٠َنْ غَزَا غَزَاةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ٠َا أَصَابَهُ قَطْرَةٌ ٠َاءِ أَوْ صُدَاعٌ إِلا كَانَتْ لَهُ شَهَادَةً يَوْ٠8.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from abu al-Bakhtariy who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘ Jibril informed me of something and it brought delightfulness to my eyes and happiness to my heart.

He said, “O Muhammad, anyone of your followers who fights the enemy for the cause of Allah, even if a drop of rain falls on him from the sky or he experiences a headache, he will, on the Day of Judgment, receive for it a reward equal to that for martyrdom.’”” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/329))
