Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ يَقُولُ ٠ِنْ رَجُلَيْنِ فِي الْقِتَالِ ٠ِنَ الزَّحْفِ فَقَدْ فَرَّ وَ٠ِنْ ثَلاثَةٍ فِي الْقِتَالِ ٠ِنَ الزَّحْفِ فَلَ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Mahbub from al-Hassan ibn Salih who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), would say, ‘If one, when advancing against the enemy after facing two men, flees, he is considered fleeing; however one who in such condition on facing three men flees, he is not considered fleeing. 5 ” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (18/362))
