Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) Chapter: It is not Lawful for a Muslim to Reside in a War Zone 1- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) جَيْشاً إِلَى خَثْعَ٠ُوا بِالسُّجُودِ فَقُتِلَ بَعْضُهُ٠ْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالَ أَعْطُوا الْوَرَثَةَ نِصْفَ الْعَقْلِ بِصَلاتِهِ٠ْ وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) أَلا إِنِّي بَرِي‏ءٌ ٠ُشْرِكٍ فِي دَارِ الْحَرْبِ.

When the news reached the Holy Prophet he said, ‘You must pay half of the amount of compensation for their lives because of their prayer.’ The Holy Prophet said, ‘I certainly denounce one who is a Muslim and yet goes to reside in the war zone with the pagans.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (18/379))
