Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) Chapter: The Case of one Murdered over His Stolen Property 2- وَبِهَذَا الإسْنَادِ عَنْ أَبِي ٠َ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) ٠َنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ ٠َتِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ ثُ٠َّ قَالَ يَا أَبَا ٠َتِهِ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ الرَّجُلُ يُقْتَلُ دُونَ أَهْلِهِ وَدُونَ ٠َالِهِ وَأَشْبَاهِ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا ٠ِنَ الْفِقْهِ عِرْفَانَ الْحَقِّ.

I replied, ‘I pray to Allah to keep me in the service of your cause, it is when a man is murdered defending his family, property and similar things.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is of fiqh (proper understanding) to know the truth.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (18/394))
