Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) Chapter: Chapter 22(a) - Rejecting Evil in one’s Heart 2- وَبِهَذَا الإسْنَادِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َعْرُوفِ وَيُنْهَى عَنِ الْ٠ِنٌ فَيَتَّعِظُ أَوْ جَاهِلٌ فَيَتَعَلَّ٠َّا صَاحِبُ سَوْطٍ أَوْ سَيْفٍ فَلا. 2.

With this chain of narration, Abu Abdullah (a.s.) said, ‘Verily, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil is incumbent upon a believer so he admonishes, or upon an ingorant so he learns from it; but as for the wielder of a whip or a sword, then no.’ جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (18/408))
