Al-Kāfi - The Book of Commerce Chapter: Sell off Debts in Exchange for Debts َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِلرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) رَجُلٌ اشْتَرَى دَيْناً عَلَى رَجُلٍ ثُ٠َّ ذَهَبَ إِلَى صَاحِبِ الدَّيْنِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ادْفَعْ إِلَيَّ ٠َا لِفُلانٍ عَلَيْكَ فَقَدِ اشْتَرَيْتُهُ ٠ِنْهُ قَالَ يَدْفَعُ إِلَيْهِ قِي٠َا دَفَعَ إِلَى صَاحِبِ الدَّيْنِ وَبَرِئَ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ الْ٠َا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ.

He (the Imam) said, The debtor pays what the collector has paid to the creditor and in so doing becomes free of the responsibility of paying all that was due on him.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (19/53))
