Al-Kāfi - The Book of Commerce Chapter: Security Deposit ( Al-Rahn ) Mortgage ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّهْنِ وَالْكَفِيلِ فِي بَيْعِ النَّسِيئَةِ فَقَالَ لا بَأْسَ بِهِ. 1.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Muhammad ibn Muslim from abu Hamzah who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about security deposit, mortgage and guarantor in transaction on credit.
