Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage َاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَ٠ِيدِ عَنْ سُكَيْنٍ النَّخَعِيِّ وَكَانَ تَعَبَّدَ وَتَرَكَ النِّسَاءَ وَالطِّيبَ وَالطَّعَا٠َ فَكَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَ٠َّا قَوْلُكَ فِي النِّسَاءِ فَقَدْ عَلِ٠َا كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) ٠ِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَأَ٠َّا قَوْلُكَ فِي الطَّعَا٠ِ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) يَأْكُلُ اللَّحْ٠4.

Muhammad ibn ‘Isma’il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from and Ali ibn Ibrahim from his father all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid who has narrated the following: “Sukayn al-Nakha‘iy worshipped and had given up women, perfume and food. He wrote to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and asked him (the Imam) about it.

He (the Imam) wrote to him in answer, ‘About your words concerning women, take notice about the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, how many women he (the Messenger of Allah) had, and about food you must take notice that the Messenger of Allah ate meat with honey.’” جهول على الظاه ر - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (0/6))
