Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage Chapter: Marriage in the form of Al-Shighar َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُ٠ْهُورٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَفَعَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) عَنْ نِكَاحِ الشِّغَارِ وَهِيَ الْ٠َانَحَةُ وَهُوَ أَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ لِلرَّجُلِ زَوِّجْنِي ابْنَتَكَ حَتَّى أُزَوِّجَكَ ابْنَتِي عَلَى أَنْ لا ٠3.

Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from ibn Jumhur from his father in a marfu’ manner who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited marriage in the manner of Shighar which is giving away and it is done by one man’s saying to the other man, ‘Give your daughter in marriage to me so that I give my daughter in marriage to you and that there will be no mahr (dower) for anyone of them.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (20/78))
