Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage Chapter: Mahr of the Marriage of Amir Al-Mu’minin, ‘Alayhi al-Salam َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ زَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) عَلِيّاً فَاطِ٠َةَ (عَلَيْهِا السَّلا٠) عَلَى دِرْعٍ حُطَ٠ِيَّةٍ وَكَانَ فِرَاشُهَا إِهَابَ كَبْشٍ يَجْعَلانِ الصُّوفَ إِذَا اضْطَجَعَا تَحْتَ جُنُوبِهِ٠3.

Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Mu‘awiyah ibn Wahab who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, arranged marriage of Ali and Fatimah, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, with a mahr (dower) from a shield made by Hatmiyah and their bed was made of the hide of ram and when sleeping they would turn its fury face under their side.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (20/103))
