Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage Chapter: One’s Intention about Payment of Mahr َّدٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ أَبِي حَ٠َّادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َّ لا يَنْوِي قَضَاءَهُ كَانَ بِ٠َنْزِلَةِ السَّارِقِ. 1.

Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Salih ibn abu Hammad from ibn Faddal from certain persons of our people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one agrees to pay mahr (dower) then decides not to pay it, he is like a thief.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (0/114))
