Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-âAlaâ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: âOne of the two Imam, (abu Jaâfar or abu âAbd Allah), âAlayhim al-Salam, has said, âA virgin girl when living with her parents cannot appoint anyone to solemnize her marriage.
In the absence of her father anyone can ask her to be appointed as her guardian.ââ صØÙØ - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (20/128))
