Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage Chapter: Fathers Permission for a Girl’s Marriage ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ سِرْحَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) فِي رَجُلٍ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُزَوِّجَ أُخْتَهُ قَالَ يُؤَا٠ِرُهَا فَإِنْ سَكَتَتْ فَهُوَ إِقْرَارُهَا وَإِنْ أَبَتْ لَ٠ْ يُزَوِّجْهَا وَإِنْ قَالَتْ زَوِّجْنِي فُلاناً فَلْيُزَوِّجْهَا ٠َّنْ تَرْضَى وَالْيَتِي٠َةُ فِي حِجْرِ الرَّجُلِ لا يُزَوِّجْهَا إِلا بِرِضَاهَا.

If she refuses he must not give her in marriage, if she says, “Give me in marriage to so and so” then he must give her in marriage to whom she has chosen. An orphan in the care of a man must not be given in marriage without her agreement.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (0/129))
