Abu Ali al-Ashâariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn âAbd al-Jabbar from âIsmaâil ibn Sahl from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad al- Hadramy from al-Kahili from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: âOnce, abu Jaâfar (a.s.), was asked about the case of a man whose mother arranged marriage for him in his absence.
He (the Imam) said, âMarriage is permissible, the husband may agree or disagree; and if he disagrees payment of mahr (dower) becomes due on his mother.ââ ضعÙÙ - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (0/142))
