Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage Chapter: A Man Loves a Woman, His Parents Want Another Woman 2- أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ إِسْ٠َاعِيلَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠ِيِّ عَنِ الْكَاهِلِيِّ عَنْ ٠ٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ زَوَّجَتْهُ أُ٠ُّهُ وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ قَالَ النِّكَاحُ جَائِزٌ إِنْ شَاءَ الْ٠ُتَزَوِّجُ قَبِلَ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ فَإِنْ تَرَكَ الْ٠ُتَزَوِّجُ تَزْوِيجَهُ فَالْ٠2.

Abu Ali al-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from ‘Isma’il ibn Sahl from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad al- Hadramy from al-Kahili from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Once, abu Ja’far (a.s.), was asked about the case of a man whose mother arranged marriage for him in his absence.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Marriage is permissible, the husband may agree or disagree; and if he disagrees payment of mahr (dower) becomes due on his mother.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (0/142))
