Al-Kāfi - The Book of ‘Aqiqah (Offering Animal Sacrifice for a Newborn Child) Chapter: Al-’Aqiqah and its Being Obligatory الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ ٠ُعَاذٍ الْفَرَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠ُ رَهْنٌ بِسَابِعِهِ بِكَبْشٍ يُسَ٠َّى فِيهِ وَ يُعَقُّ عَنْهُوَ قَالَ إِنَّ فَاطِ٠َةَ ( عليها السلا٠) حَلَقَتْ ابْنَيْهَا وَ تَصَدَّقَتْ بِوَزْنِ شَعْرِهِ٠9.

Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from ‘ Abd Allah ibn Sinan from Mu’adh al-farra’ who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The boy is safeguarded on the seventh day from his birth with giving him a name and slaughtering of a ram for ‘Aqiqah.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Fatimah ‘Alayha al-Salam, shaved (the heads) of her two sons and gave in charity of silver by the weight of their hair.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (1/46))
