Al-Kāfi - The Book of ‘Aqiqah (Offering Animal Sacrifice for a Newborn Child) Chapter: Cleansing, Circumcision عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ ٠َسْعَدَةَ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ اخْتِنُوا أَوْلَادَكُ٠ْ لِسَبْعَةِ أَيَّا٠ٍ فَإِنَّهُ أَطْهَرُ وَ أَسْرَعُ لِنَبَاتِ اللَّحْ٠ِ وَ إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ لَتَكْرَهُ بَوْلَ الْأَغْلَفِوَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) إِنَّ ثَقْبَ أُذُنِ الْغُلَا٠ِنَ السُّنَّةِ وَ خِتَانَهُ لِسَبْعَةِ أَيَّا٠1.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas‘adah ibn Sadaqah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Circumcise your children on the seventh day from their birth; it is more clean and allows the flesh to grow quicker.

The earth dislikes the urine of one who is not circumcised.”’ Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith the following is narrated: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Piercing a hole in the ear of a boy is of Sunnah and circumcision on the seventh day is of Sunnah.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/62))
