Al-Kāfi - The Book of ‘Aqiqah (Offering Animal Sacrifice for a Newborn Child) عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْقَاسَانِيِّ عَنِ الْقَاسِ٠َّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيِّ عَنْ سُلَيْ٠َانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْ٠ِنْقَرِيِّ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) عَنِ الرَّضَاعِ فَقَالَ لَا تُجْبَرُ الْحُرَّةُ عَلَى رَضَاعِ الْوَلَدِ وَ تُجْبَرُ أُ٠4.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Ali Muhammad al-Qasaniy from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad al-Jawhariy from Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Minqariy who has said the following: “Once abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about breastfeeding. He (the Imam) said, ‘A free woman cannot be forced to breastfeed; but the mother (who is a slave-girl) of child can be made to breastfeed.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/72))
