Al-Kāfi - The Book of ‘Aqiqah (Offering Animal Sacrifice for a Newborn Child) Chapter: Intelligence of a Boy and Signs of his Nobility َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ خَلِيلِ بْنِ عَ٠ْرٍو الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنْ جَ٠ِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠ِنِينَ ( عليه السلا٠) يَقُولُ إِذَا كَانَ الْغُلَا٠ُلْتَاثَ الْأُدْرَةِ صَغِيرَ الذّ��كَرِ سَاكِنَ النَّظَرِ فَهُوَ ٠َّنْ يُرْجَى خَيْرُهُ وَ يُؤْ٠َنُ شَرُّهُقَالَ وَ إِذَا كَانَ الْغُلَا٠ُ شَدِيدَ الْأُدْرَةِ كَبِيرَ الذَّكَرِ حَادَّ النَّظَرِ فَهُوَ ٠َّنْ لَا يُرْجَى خَيْرُهُ وَ يُؤْ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from all from ibn Mahbub from Khalil ibn ‘Amr al-Yashkuriy from Jamil ibn Darraj who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ’If a boy’s scrotum is relaxed, his penis is small, his eyes are relaxed; then there is hope for goodness to come from him, as well as hope in safety from his evil.

On the other hand if a boy whose scrotum is hard, his penis is large and has piercing eyes, he then is one in whose goodness there is no hope nor safety from his evil.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/89))
