Al-Kāfi - The Book of Talaq (Divorces) Chapter: Waiting Period of a Woman whose Hayd (menses) is Confused عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠ِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلا٠َا سَبَقَ بَانَتْ ٠ُسْتَرَابَةُ تَسْتَرِيبُ الْحَيْضَ إِنْ ٠َرَّتْ بِهَا ثَلَاثَةُ أَشْهُرٍ بِيضٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا دَ٠ٌ بَانَتْ بِهِ وَ إِنْ ٠َرَّتْ بِهَا ثَلَاثُ حِيَضٍ لَيْسَ بَيْنَ الْحَيْضَتَيْنِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَشْهُرٍ بَانَتْ بِالْحَيْضِ.

One is passing of three months without any blood discharge and taking place of three Hayd (menses) the two of which are not three months apart from each other.’” According to ibn abu ’Umayr Jamil has made this statement.

‘It can be explained as follows: If three months one day less pass and she experiences Hayd (menses) then three months one day less pass and she experiences Hayd (menses) then three months one day less pass and she experiences Hayd (menses), she counts waiting period with Hayd (menses) in this way. She does not count by months.

If three months pass without blood discharge for three months and she does not experience Hayd (menses) she then becomes stranger to her husband.’ حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/166))
