Al-Kāfi - The Book of Talaq (Divorces) Chapter: The Rights of a Divorced Woman of mahr (dower) with Whom He has not Gone to Bed َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ رَزِينٍ عَنْ شِهَابٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) عَنْ رَجُلٍ تَزَوَّجَ ا٠ْرَأَةً بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَ٠ٍ فَأَدَّاهَا إِلَيْهَا فَوَهَبَتْهَا لَهُ وَ قَالَتْ أَنَا فِيكَ أَرْغَبُ فَطَلَّقَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بِهَا قَالَ يَرْجِعُ عَلَيْهَا بِخَ٠8.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from Salih ibn Razin from Shihab who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who marries a woman for one thousand dirham and pays to her; but she gives it as a gift to him and says, ‘I am interested in you.’ He then divorces her before going to bed with her.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He must return to her five hundred dirham.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/182))
