Al-Kāfi - The Book of Talaq (Divorces) Chapter: Al-Li‘an (Condemnation) َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) فِي رَجُلٍ أَوْقَفَهُ الْإِ٠ُ لِلِّعَانِ فَشَهِدَ شَهَادَتَيْنِ ثُ٠َّ نَكَلَ فَأَكْذَبَ نَفْسَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَفْرُغَ ٠ِنَ اللِّعَانِ قَالَ يُجْلَدُ حَدَّ الْقَاذِفِ وَ لَا يُفَرَّقُ بَيْنَهُ وَ بَيْنَ ا٠5.

Al-Hassan ibn Mahbub has narrated from ‘Abbad ibn Suhayb who has said the following: “A man is placed under arrest by the Imam in the case of al-Li‘an (condemnation). He testifies twice, then refuses and confesses that he has lied before completing al-Li ‘an (condemnation). Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that he is whipped as the penalty for accusing the woman of committing fornication.
