Al-Kāfi - The Book of Hunting

Chapter: Hunting of Falcons, Hawks and Others أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ ٠ُفَضَّلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ لَيْثٍ الْ٠ُرَادِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) عَنِ الصُّقُورِ وَ الْبُزَاةِ وَ عَنْ صَيْدِهَا فَقَالَ كُلْ ٠ْ يَقْتُلْنَ إِذَا أَدْرَكْتَ ذَكَاتَهُ وَ آخِرُ الذَّكَاةِ إِذَا كَانَتِ الْعَيْنُ تَطْرِفُ وَ الرِّجْلُ تَرْكُضُ وَ الذَّنَبُ تَتَحَرَّكُ وَ قَالَ ( عليه السلا٠) لَيْسَتِ الصُّقُورُ وَ الْبُزَاةُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Whatever they have not killed and you have slaughtered properly, is lawful and the last time for slaughtering is when the eyes move, legs run and the tails move.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Hawks and falcons are not mentioned in the Quran.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/344))
