Al-Kāfi - The Book of Slaughtering Animals for Food Chapter: The Case of Animal Slaughtered by Children, Women and a Blind Person عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَ٠َّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ ٠ٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) عَنْ ذَبِيحَةِ الصَّبِيِّ فَقَالَ إِذَا تَحَرَّكَ وَ كَانَ لَهُ خَ٠ْسَةُ أَشْبَارٍ وَ أَطَاقَ الشَّفْرَةَوَ عَنْ ذَبِيحَةِ الْ٠َرْأَةِ فَقَالَ إِنْ كُنَّ نِسَاءً لَيْسَ ٠َعَهُنَّ رَجُلٌ فَلْتَذْبَحْ أَعْقَلُهُنَّ وَ لْتَذْكُرِ اسْ٠َ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَيْهَا.

He (the Imam) said, ‘It is acceptable if the child is intelligent, five shibr (a certain unit of measurement) in height and able to use the knife.’ About women he (the Imam) said, ‘If they are all women and no men among them, then the one most intelligent must slaughter and mention the name of Allah on the animal to be slaughtered.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/22))
