Al-Kāfi - The Book of Slaughtering Animals for Food Chapter: Slaughtering by the People of the Book عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) عَنْ ذَبِيحَةِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ قَالَ فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ ٠َا يَأْكُلُونَ ذَبَائِحَكُ٠ْ فَكَيْفَ تَسْتَحِلُّونَ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوا ذَبَائِحَهُ٠َنُ عَلَيْهَا إِلَّا ٠16.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from certain persons of his people who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the animals the people of the book slaughter. He (the Imam) said, ‘By Allah they do not eat what you slaughter; then how can you consider what they slaughter as lawful?

It is a matter of name (mentioning the name of Allah), and no one can be trusted in it except a Muslim.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/27))
