Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban Taghlib from the one who narrated to him who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, about the flesh of horses. He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not use it for food unless it is a matter of necessity, as well as the flesh of the domestic donkeys.

He (the Imam) said, ’It is in the book of Ali, Alayhi al-Salam, that he (the Imam) prohibited using it for food.’” رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/34))
