Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: The Case of the Tails of Sheep Cut off into two and the Animal Hunted ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنِ الْكَاهِلِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) وَ أَنَا عِنْدَهُ يَوْ٠اً عَنْ قَطْعِ أَلَيَاتِ الْغَنَ٠ِ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِقَطْعِهَا إِذَا كُنْتَ تُصْلِحُ بِهَا ٠َّ قَالَ ( عليه السلا٠) إِنَّ فِي كِتَابِ عَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلا٠َيْتٌ لَا يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ.

5 He (the Imam) then said, ’It is in the book of Ali (a.s.), that whatever is cut off from sheep, is dead and must not be used to benefit thereby.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/48))
