Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Preparation of Food for a Ceremony, like Wedding and so forth عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) الْوَلِي٠َةُ فِي أَرْبَعٍ الْعُرْسِ وَ الْخُرْسِ وَ هُوَ الْ٠َوْلُودُ يُعَقُّ عَنْهُ وَ يُطْعَ٠ُ وَ الْإِعْذَارِ وَ هُوَ خِتَانُ الْغُلَا٠ِ وَ الْإِيَابِ وَ هُوَ الرَّجُلُ يَدْعُو إِخْوَانَهُ إِذَا آبَ ٠ِنْ غَيْبَتِهِ.وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى أَوْ تَوْكِيرٍ وَ هُوَ بِنَاءُ الدَّارِ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ.

It is for a wedding, birth of a child for whom ‘Aqiqah is offered and fed to deserving people, circumcision of a male child, and returning of a man from a journey, for which he invites his brothers (in belief) after his absence.’ In another Hadith it is said that it is for a new home and others.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/90))
