Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Using a Towel to Wipe one’s Face after Wudu (Washing) ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْ٠َغْرَاءِ عَنْ زَيْدٍ الشَّحَّا٠ِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ يَ٠ْسَحَ الرَّجُلُ يَدَهُ بِالْ٠ِنْدِيلِ وَ فِيهَا شَيْ‏ءٌ ٠ُصَّهَا أَوْ يَكُونَ عَلَى جَنْبِهِ صَبِيٌّ يَ٠3.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from abu al-Mighra’ from Zayd al-Shahham who has said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), disliked wiping his hands with a towel because of food stains due to sanctity of food, until he (the Imam) absorbed them or a child next to him (the Imam) did so.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/105))
