Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Mentioning the name of Allah and Tahmid (All Praise Belongs to Allah) over the Food عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَ٠ْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِير عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ إِذَا وُضِعَ الْخِوَانُ فَقُلْ بِسْ٠ِ اللَّهِ وَ إِذَا أَكَلْتَ فَقُلْ بِسْ٠ِ اللَّهِ عَلَى أَوَّلِهِ وَ آخِرِهِ وَ إِذَا رُفِعَ فَقُلِ الْحَ٠2.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When the table is prepared say, ‘In the name of Allah.’ When your eating is complete say, ‘In the name of Allah at its beginning and at its end.’ When it is removed say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/106))
