Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Mentioning the name of Allah and Tahmid (All Praise Belongs to Allah) over the Food سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَ٠ُّونٍ عَنِ الْأَصَ٠َعٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) ٠َعُ عِيَالَهُ وَ يَضَعُ ٠َائِدَةً بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَ يُسَ٠ُّونَ فِي أَوَّلِ الطَّعَا٠َدُونَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِي آخِرِهِ فَتَرْتَفِعُ الْ٠َائِدَةُ حَتَّى يُغْفَرَ لَهُ٠25.

Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Shammun from al-Asamm from Misma‘ who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has stated this Hadith.

‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “Allah forgives a family who come together, prepare the table of food, they all mention the name of Allah at the beginning of food and praise Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, at the end of food.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/111))
