Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Kinds of Sawiq (roasted flour) and the Excellence of Sawiq of Wheat َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ سَيْفٍ التَّ٠َرِضَ بَعْضُ رُفَقَائِنَا بِ٠َكَّةَ وَ بُرْسِ٠َ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠ْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي اسْقِهِ سَوِيقَ الشَّعِيرِ فَإِنَّهُ يُعَافِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَ هُوَ غِذَاءٌ فِي جَوْفِ الْ٠َا سَقَيْنَاهُ السَّوِيقَ إِلَّا يَوْ٠َيْنِ أَوْ قَالَ ٠َرَّتَيْنِ حَتَّى عُوفِيَ صَاحِبُنَا.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Make him drink sawiq of barley; it will cure him by the will of Allah and it is the food for the stomach of patients.’ He (the narrator) has said, ‘We made him drink it for two days or he said, ‘twice’ our friend was cured.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/126))
