Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Roast, al-Kabab and Heads َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ ٠َرَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنِ الْأَصْبَغِ بْنِ نُبَاتَةَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَ٠ِنِينَ ( عليه السلا٠) وَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ شِوَاءٌ فَقَالَ لِي ادْنُ فَكُلْ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَ٠ِنِينَ هَذَا لِي ضَارٌّ فَقَالَ لِي ادْنُ أُعَلِّ٠َاتٍ لَا يَضُرُّكَ ٠َعَهُنَّ شَيْ‏ءٌ ٠َّا تَخَافُ قُلْ بِسْ٠ِ اللَّهِ خَيْرِ الْأَسْ٠ِلْ‏ءَ الْأَرْضِ وَ السَّ٠ِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ ٠ِهِ شَيْ‏ءٌ وَ لَا دَاءٌ تَغَدَّ ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan from Musa ibn ‘Umar from Ja‘far ibn Bashir from Ibrahim ibn Mehzam from abu Maryam from al-Asbagh ibn Nabatah who has said the following: “I once went to visit ’Amir al-Mu’minin and before him (the Imam) there was roasted meat. He (the Imam) said to me, ‘Come close and eat.’ I said, ‘O ’Amir al-Mu’minin, this thing is harmful for me.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Come close.

I will teach you certain words with which not even one thing will harm you of which you are afraid. Say, ‘In the name of Allah, the best of names, to the fill of the earth and sky, the Beneficent, the Merciful, the one with whose name not even one thing and illness harms.’ Now you can have lunch with us.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/144))
