Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْهَيْثَ٠ِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ صَنَعَ لَنَا أَبُو حَ٠َّا حَضَرْنَا رَأَى رَجُلًا يَنْهَكُ عَظْ٠اً فَصَاحَ بِهِ فَقَالَ لَا تَفْعَلْ فَإِنِّي سَ٠ِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلا٠) يَقُولُ لَا تَنْهَكُوا الْعِظَا٠َ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا لِلْجِنِّ نَصِيباً وَ إِنْ فَعَلْتُ٠1.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Ali from Muhammad ibn al-Haytham from his father who has narrated the following: “Abu Hamzah once made food for us and we were in a group and when we were all present, a man made a bone bare and took out its marrow. He (the Imam) said to him aloud, ‘Do not do so because I heard Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, saying, “Do not remove bone marrows and make bare; in it there is a share for al-Jinn.
