Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَ٠َّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الْعَجْوَةَ وَ الْعَتِيقَ ٠َا الْعَتِيقُ قَالَ الْفَحْلُ. 9.

It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Rib‘iy from ‘Abd Allah ibn al- Fudayl who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent al-‘Ajwah and al-‘Atiq from the sky.’ I then asked, ‘What is al-‘Atiq?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the male.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/182))
