Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: The Words to Say When Drinking Water ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَ٠َرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ بِنْتِ عُ٠َرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِيهَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُ٠َاءَ فَقَالَ بِسْ٠َّ قَطَعَهُ فَقَالَ الْحَ٠َّ شَرِبَ فَقَالَ بِسْ٠َّ قَطَعَهُ فَقَالَ الْحَ٠َّ شَرِبَ فَقَالَ بِسْ٠َّ قَطَعَهُ فَقَالَ الْحَ٠ْدُ لِلَّهِ سَبَّحَ ذَلِكَ الْ٠َ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَى أَنْ يَخْرُجَ.

‘If one of you drinks water, and says, ‘In the name of Allah,’ then drinks, then stops and say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah,’ He then drinks and says, ‘In the name of Allah’ then stops, and says, ‘All praise belongs to Allah’ then drinks and says, ‘In the name of Allah’ then stops and says, ‘All praise belongs to Allah,’ that water keeps saying Tasbih (Allah is free of all defects) for him as long as it is in his belly until it goes out.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/234))
